Why do I do what I do? Self Reflection.........

Why do I do what I do in my life? What is the driving force in my motivation? Ask yourself these simple questions and sit in it for a little bit of unadulterated time without social media or distraction from anyone or anything. Even when it’s icky and gross or yummy and fun and whatever else it is in between. See, feel and think what arises and go from there. Svadhyaya, self study.
Do you take the time to feel inward about you? Or do you avoid it with distractions, enhancements and excuses? We all do this a little and a lot and varied amounts in between throughout our lives. This is about observation and awareness. Not judgement or shame. The first step is being willing to observe and be real with yourself, Satya, truthfulness. It’s ok to sit in the muck. It’s ok to not like what you find. It’s ok to feel or feel feelings about it. Only this time do it as if you’re watching a movie third party. Aparigraha, non attachment.
Then what comes up? Can you support yourself in witnessing the choices you make without judging/harming you, ahimsa; non violence? Can you observe and be ok with what you see regardless? Santosha, Contentment. We are human. It’s a skill and can be learned.
Why do I do Yoga Therapy? My life has had many speed bumps taken at high speeds. I have taken air many times. I have also landed many times. I have been told many times to write a book. There was even a suggested title a few times. Much of this was self inflicted consciously or subconsciously with the need to succeed or 'get ahead'. Deep programming. Everything from Imposter Syndrome to the fear of being left behind. I learned what I learned and I teach what I teach to hear the teachings on an ongoing basis and practice them at the same time. To deeply engrain not only my needs but my wants. Health and mobility into my older age are paramount for me. I witnessed others who were not. Witnessing the aging process and the pain process and what it has done to other people I have orbited in my lifetime has given me this desire for my own future. Much of what we do is reflection of what we want to see, think or feel in our lives. Wellness, mobility and self empowerment is my journey. What is yours?
